Thomas Mitchell, portrayed many memorable parts in his long career, including his role in GONE WITH THE WIND. He did take home an Oscar in 1939, but not for his role as "Gerald O' Hara," the patriarch of Tara. He was voted the Best Supporting Actor as "Doc Boone" in John Ford's STAGECOACH.
