Search tips
If you are using the database for the first time, try simple one-word searches using "Basic Search."
Use the singular form of nouns rather than the plural form (i.e., 'marriage' or 'uniform' will pick up more results than "marriages" or 'uniforms'). You
may also want to "Browse" a section before searching to see typical entries.
Advanced Searching
You can limit your search to a particular section of the Papers or to a particular date range (or both)
by using the "Advanced Search." Advanced search is also useful for searching for variant spellings of names ('Pelliser'
and 'Pellicer'). Use the "with any of the words" option to search for variants. You will need to become familiar with the database before you can
use "Advanced Search" effectively.
