H.W. Luckey

H.W. (Hugh William) Luckey was one of the Fort Myers area men who joined the Expedition. Census and other records list him living in Orange County, Florida in 1870, living in Fort Denaud in 1900, and living in La Belle, Florida in 1920-1935. His occupation for part of his life was listed a farmer or laborer. He was married to Flossie Pauline Blount Luckey. He would have been 21 years old at the time of the Expedition. He was assigned to Mess No. 2.

Note about confidence of this information:

Unable to locate sources definitively identifying Hugh William Luckey as the H.W. Lucky or Luckey who participated in the Expedition. However, given that Luckey is consistently listed in census and other records living in Fort Denaud and LaBelle, which are both near Fort Myers, confidence is high.
